By Neil Stevens
Politico reports of a new Pew Research poll that shows support for the war, and belief that we're winnning, is at its highest point in nearly two years.
According to late February polling conducted by The Pew Research Center for the People & the Press, 53 percent of Americans—a slim majority—now believe “the U.S. will ultimately succeed in achieving its goals” in Iraq. That figure is up from 42 percent in September 2007.
The percentage of those who believe the war in Iraq is going “very well” or “fairly well” is also up from 30 percent in February 2007 to 48 percent today.
This is not a good time to be a cut and run wimp like Barack "Widdle Baby Kitten" Obama.

Posted at 1:26pm on Sep. 1, 2007 Scenes from Berlin
By Erick
I have just returned from a week in Germany. Here are some of my pictures from Berlin.
The skyline looking east:

The Bundestag looking down from the glass dome at the top of the Reichstag:

The glass dome atop the Reichstag from which you can look down on the Bundestag. You'll note there is a ramp that spirals to the very top of the dome at which there is a mini-museum documenting the history of the Reichstag. The Germans are careful to note the Nazis never used the Reichstag.

In his prime, DeNiro (Dino) weighed 210 pounds. He was well over 6 feet long, had a head as big as a volleyball, and pound for pound had an unconditional love for his family that can never be adequately described.

Posted at 7:29pm on Feb. 1, 2007 Rush Limbaugh is the Patron Saint of Citizen Journalism
By David Hinz
From the user blogs, by Erick, because it's about Rush and we all love him in that friend sort of way. No, not quite that sort of way.
LOVE HIM OR HATE HIM, HE'S CHANGED THE WORLD!
From its humble beginnings with the advent of talk radio, to the primacy of the internet, Citizen Journalism is a wave that is sweeping the world. Ordinary people are participating in the gathering and reporting of news. They feel empowered by the removal of the shackles of the MSM, which, many feel, filters and blocks the free flow of news.
The first person to buck the mainstream mindset, Rush Limbaugh pioneered what we now know as Citizen Journalism. Paving the way for others to follow, he has become the Patron Saint of Citizen Journalism. The Hinzsight Report follows the progression of the phenomenon as ordinary citizens, disgruntled with the Mainstream Media, have taken over the process.
An excerpt from the piece:

Posted at 5:19pm on Nov. 20, 2006 CIA: "Pay No Attention To Those Mullahs Behind The Curtain"
By Rick Moran
More selective leaking from our friends at the Central Intelligence Agency:
A classifed draft CIA assessment has found no firm evidence of a secret drive by Iran to develop nuclear weapons, as alleged by the White House, a top US investigative reporter has said.
Seymour Hersh, writing in an article for the November 27 issue of the magazine The New Yorker released in advance, reported on whether the administration of Republican President George W. Bush was more, or less, inclined to attack Iran after Democrats won control of Congress last week.
A month before the November 7 legislative elections, Hersh wrote, Vice President Dick Cheney attended a national-security discussion that touched on the impact of Democratic victory in both chambers on Iran policy.
"If the Democrats won on November 7th, the vice president said, that victory would not stop the administration from pursuing a military option with Iran," Hersh wrote, citing a source familiar with the discussion.
Of course, the CIA might be wrong - or at least this analysis may be flawed. There are probably other assessments that are much less sanguine regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions but no one leaked those reports. They're a secret.
And I suppose Iran's known and verified relationship with Big Daddy A.Q. Khan - father of Pakistan's atomic bomb - and his travelling nuclear arms bazzar was just a coincidence - a happenstance of fortunate circumstance. Besides, Khan wasn't selling nukes, he was selling ice cream machines.
Except that this document discovered by the IAEA, proves that either Iran is seeking to build nuclear weapons or those ice cream machines have one helluva kick:

Posted at 1:33pm on Aug. 29, 2006 Save The Electoral College!
By Rick Moran
TO ARMS! TO ARMS! The forces of darkness are gathering to strike a blow against liberty, justice, the American way, and...and...THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE!
The Electoral college?
Yes, it's true. Not content to simply posit conspiracy theories about how Republicans steal elections, liberals have now set their sights on stripping America of one of her oldest and most cherished institutions. Now, gentle reader, before you scratch your head and ask the obvious question of who cares if we give the Electoral College the heave-ho, perhaps a little history lesson is in order. And who better to give it than I, Professor Moran, BFA, MS, and VAH (Very Amateur Historian).

Posted at 5:25pm on Aug. 24, 2006 MI: Democrats back Right to Life candidates?
By saul anuzis
Wow, Michigan Democrats go into their state convention this weekend considering at least THREE statewide canidate who support the Right to Life.
Emily's List names Michigan as their number one target to support pro-abortion candidates Jennifer Granholm and Debbie Stabenow.
Now they nominate 3 statewide candidates that share the same views that they refer to as being "extreme"???
Irony...double standard...principled???

Posted at 2:00pm on Aug. 24, 2006 For Memphis' Fords, politics is a business and a cult
By spainishirish
Anyone who has spent time in Memphis--particularly in the Ninth Congressional District--is familiar with the Ford family. In addition to the threadworn political machine they built, the Fords have a cult-like following among some of the poorer and less educated voters in the district.
Both the machine and cult have lost a lot of steam in recent years. Why? Much of the time, knowledge of the Fords comes to Memphians via the most recent news of a family member's arrest or other bad behavior. As people in the district have become better informed and less prone to listen to demagogues, the Ford family's political fortunes have started to decline.

Posted at 12:36pm on Aug. 24, 2006 Is this part of their problem?
By Dana R Pico
Eric, reviewing former Vice President Gore's book, Earth in the Balance, wrote:
A large part of the problem is that the intelligence and seriousness so often devolve into moral and intellectual pomposity, as evidenced in grandiose statements like “We must all become partners in a bold effort to change the very foundations of our civilization.” Who, after all, upon reading such a fatuous comment, would not want to take the author and swat him with a rolled up newspaper?

By FrauBudgie
There are times in life when you have to respect a person's decision, and then pray for him when the odds run out.
I think this is true of Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig. There has been no word on them at all, and I don't have a good feeling about them.
From the ChristianScienceMoniter, via Michelle Malkin:
"...A spokesman for the PRC, or Popular Resistance Committee, an interfactional group that was rumored to be involved in the kidnapping of Centanni and Wiig, denied any involvement.Posted in Spotlight Blogs | User Blogs — Comments (1) / Email this page » / Read More »
Posted at 7:27am on Aug. 23, 2006 Republicans are winning the baby battle!
By scantojr
This is not a new subject. David Brooks wrote about it after the '04 election. He called it The New Red-Diaper Babies, a reference to the reality that Republicans are having babies and Democrats are not.
Check out Brooks:
"As Steve Sailer pointed out in The American Conservative, George Bush carried the 19 states with the highest white fertility rates, and 25 of the top 26. John Kerry won the 16 states with the lowest rates.

By FrauBudgie
AMLO has promised "civil disobedience" for as long as it takes to get the recount, which would be undoubtedly followed by endless recounts until the "right" -- errr, rather leftist -- candidate wins.
However, "peaceful" leftist APPO protestors have kept the province of Oaxaca cut off from the rest of Mexico. The situation's grim enough for the WashPo to note -- well, at least the paper noted violence directed at their fellow media outlets.
